ASend a midstream urine sample and start trimethoprim 200 mg twice a day for 7 days
BGive a back-up prescription of trimethoprim to use if not better in 48 hours
CSend a midstream urine sample and start trimethoprim 200 mg twice a day for 3 days
DStart nitrofurantoin 100 mg modified-release twice a day for 3 days without culture
Not quite. The correct answer is A.

NICE NG109 recommends an immediate antibiotic prescription for men with lower UTI (1.1.5) and a midstream urine sample sent for culture before antibiotics are taken (1.1.6). Table 3 gives trimethoprim 200 mg twice a day for 7 days, or nitrofurantoin for 7 days, as first choices for men. Three-day courses apply only to non-pregnant women. Back-up prescriptions are an option only for non-pregnant women (1.1.3). Waiting for culture delays treatment that NICE says should be immediate.

Can I try MedMocks without signing up?

Yes. Choose your exam and try five questions, with their explanations and sources. No account or payment card needed. Then a free account gets you the mini mock exam: 20 timed questions across the syllabus, then your weakest topics and what to read.

What does a pass include?

Your PLAB 1 pass covers the full PLAB 1 question bank and two timed 180-question mock exams, every answer explained with its source; a tracker that picks your next topic, with smart revision and a readiness score; and a week-by-week study plan to your sitting. If you finish the bank and both mock exams and still don’t pass, choose a refund or more time. Paid once, with no subscription and no automatic renewal. One MRCPsych pass covers Paper A and Paper B in the same way.

Will I be charged again automatically?

No. Every pass is a single payment through Lemon Squeezy. There is no subscription and no automatic renewal.

What if I don’t pass?

The bank and the mock exams are the plan. Finish them before your sitting, with no minimum score. If you still don’t pass PLAB 1, send your result within 30 days and choose your money back or twice your pass length, free. This applies to PLAB 1 passes. Read the refund terms.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. MedMocks runs in your phone’s browser, so a 20-minute session between jobs counts. Your progress is saved to your account, and questions you miss come back for revision after 10 minutes, then after 1, 3 and 7 days.

I’m sitting in a few weeks. Is it still worth it?

Yes, if you use it to find and fix your weakest topics. Start with a timed mock exam, then let the tracker pick what to revise. For MRCPsych, the 1-month pass suits a final push.

How do I know what to revise?

After each session, your tracker shows the topics you’re scoring below 60% and the exact source to read. Questions you get wrong come back after 10 minutes, then after 1, 3 and 7 days. Your readiness score appears after 50 questions across 3 topics. It is a study guide, not a prediction of your result.

Is MedMocks official?

No. MedMocks is independent revision material, not affiliated with or endorsed by the GMC or the Royal College of Psychiatrists. The questions are original, not past exam questions.
